Bonita determined to repel “Smash” and grab raid on her Silverware

Sitting side by Side at a presser in the cavernous Puebla State Government installations WBC Silver flyweight champion Gabriela “Bonita”’Sanchez and Simangela “Smash” Hadebe exchanged pleasantries and swooped the microphone to answer questions, but on Friday night at the Auditorio GNP it will be gloved fists.

Gaby works for the State Government is its Director of Sports and Youth. She is donating her purse for this third defense to Integral Development of the family, the State Maternity Home and the Mental Health Home for Children and adolescents.

She said the amateur program for bright prospects starts at 4pm, and then at 6pm, It’s the turn of professional fighters.

Bonita said boxing has stolen her heart, but it involves sacrifices. She starts her early morning tu at 5am, then training, then a day of work and at 6pm it’s more training.

She spoke of the pride involved in front of her family, fans and her people, vowing victory against a tough and hungry opponent.

“Smash” who arrived in Mexico on Monday said this is the most important fight of her career and she has been waiting patiently for this chance for two years.

Another of her nicknames is Lion. She said that she is fully aware she is padding into the lion’s den. But stressed she has trained for ten tough and hard rounds. But if the opportunity presents itself she will go all out for a KO.

“Smash” said:

“I am a very patient person. But I’ve waited too long and now the chance has come I will do everything in my power to bring the WBC belt back to South Africa. I’m going to leave everything in the ring”.

“My aim is the WBC wherever I go. I will be the lion on 4th of April.”

Gabriela who’s always wreathed in smiles but possesses iron will plus plenty of determination.

“She is a very strong rival who likes to come forward . But in Puebla we are warriors and the Silver WBC Belt is staying here”.

“Boxing is a life style I love and it’s part of me. Up In the ring I win this fight. My third defence in front of my people and this so motivates me”
