Biting the Bullet!  Brian Mendoza presented with WBC Interim Belt in Mexico by President Mauricio Sulaiman

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman and Mexico City Boxing Commissioner Ciro Nucci presented new WBC Interim super-welterweight Champion Brian Mendoza with the famed Green and Gold Belt, at Sports and Chips in Mexico City.

Bespectled, with a fabulous gold chain adorning his sturdy neck, beaming Brian accampanied by his Dad, said it was a dream come true, resulting from his steadfast refusal to be deflected by a couple of previous defeats, unwavering focus and the sheer belief in him from a small group of dedicated people within his circle, who never gave up on him, which spurs him on to keep exceding the unexpeted, transforming it into great expectations realized. And how!

What an apt setting for this belt buckling, because when the chips were down, Brian seized his sporting opportunity with a mighty three punch combination, which KO`d Sebastian Fundora at Dignity Health and Sports Park in Carson, California on April 8th. A left, right, left has changed Brian`s life.

He responded: “Yes Sir! I never thought I would be here at an event like this and my name on the table. It`s crazy and wonderful!  It`s all about believing in the dream, yourself and your team plus working hard. I had something to prove, pulling off these upsets. Hopefully KO Of The Year and KO Of The Year. It`s all about having faith and keeping working!

“I`m now going for the Undisputed Championship. I want all of that. I keep proving people wrong, so if I can get the fight I know I can pull it off! I have an amazing team and I know they will keep me busy. It`s easy to make these fights because I`m always training, I`m always ready and I`m willing to fight whoever.
