To All Concerned:
We have had Great Success in giving back to our Communities in regards to WBC Cares Amateur’s Boxing Challenge Boxing events over the past 6 years.
As a matter of fact, we held the 6th annual Jose Sulaiman, this past weekend! This event was pushed to this year due to Covid-19. There were 48 Boxers in this event.
We Thank you all for posting some of pictures on the WBC Web site, many Proud and Happy Boxers, and their Parents on seeing there pics on the WBC Web page.
Since this event we will now be focused on bigger events due to the high demand from Coaches and Regional Boxing teams.
Raul, and Ghost Town Board and I, recently held a 1st annual WBC Cares Jose Sulaiman & Alberto Reyes Remembrance Regional Invitational. We had great success with the presence of Elizabeth and Guillermo, and boxers from Utah, New Mexico, Texas, Nebraska, Colorado, Chicago, and Wyoming.
Due to this Success and many Coaches and Boxers wanting to compete in another event, we have decided to hold a second one in April 2022 as a two-day event, which will lead the open class boxers into a week long tournament in July. We have all of the medals and awards for this Regional event.
The Biggest News that we have right now is that we have locked dates for a week long Open Amateur’s Boxing Tournament, in July 2022; which will be called:
“WBC Gladiators Challenge Invitational.”
Our Goal is to have 25 WBC Challenge Belts for the Open Class Men & Women, these would be the Elite Weight Classes of our Rated Boxers for International Competition.
We will be having 13 Men’s Open Class Weight Divisions and 12 Open Class Women’s Weight Divisions, for a total of 25 Weight Classes. USA Boxing is bringing back all the Weight Divisions next year.
The main goal of this is to open the door for future competitions and possibly have these open Boxers gain a rating by USA Boxing. This can happen, if we can get this Tournament to be ranked, with hopefully International and National Boxing Teams competing. We already have interest from teams in Canada, hopefully Puerto Rico and Mexico coming as well.
All weight and rules guidelines will be under USA Boxing regulations.
We will also Invite Open Junior boxers, Male & Female, to this event as well. The winners in these divisions will win WBC Challenge Medals.
Our Tournament will have no walk/over winners. Those that enter must fight either in a weight higher or lower depending on safety weight allowances.
Most importantly the Consent and Blessing of our WBC to hold this weeklong tournament.
Our group has worked hard for the past six years to help make not only Colorado and the Region better, but mainly showing the Nation & the World that the WBC Cares about all of these young boxers and supporting them of their dreams of a positive life and outlet through boxing to become more discipled and better citizens through the art of boxing. Our goal is not World Champions but a better outlet of keeping them off the streets, and Champions of their Communities. (Enclosed are posters for the upcoming events).
Big Thanks on Supporting us these past six years in giving back to these young boxers and fulfilling the Dreams of Don Jose Sulaiman and Alberto Reyes of Big Champions Supporting Lil Champions.
Have a Blessed Day and God Bless you all can’t wait to see you all soon!
Respectfully,
Stephen Blea – WBC Cares Ambassador
Raul Utajara – GhostTown Boxing Team
