On February 1st, 2025, one of boxing’s most anticipated clashes will unfold, as David Benavidez defends his interim WBC light heavyweight title against David Morrell Jr. at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Former super middleweight world champion, Benavidez, captured the interim 175-pound crown with a dominant victory over Ukrainian legend Oleksandr Gvozdyk. Having built an undefeated record of 29-0 with 24 knockouts, Benavidez is a force to be reckoned with.
“I know that when it comes down to it, it’ll just be us in the ring,” Benavidez declared. But I’m here to prove a point. I’m going to keep this energy up, and he’s in for a long, grueling night. I told him I’m going to break his mouth, and that’s exactly what I intend to do. I’m not playing games. He’s been talking trash, saying I’m nothing. Now it’s time to back it up. This won’t be easy, but this is the fight I want. It’ll show the world my true level.”
David Morrell Jr., with an immaculate 11-0 record (9 KOs), enters the fight with sky-high expectations. The former 168-pound champion moved up to 175 pounds in search of greater challenges.
“Benavidez is considered one of the most dangerous boxers in the world,” Morrell Jr. stated. “But I’m not afraid of monsters; I hunt them. He’s never faced anyone like me. When night arrives, he’ll realize I’m faster, stronger, and smarter than anyone he’s ever encountered.”
This electrifying card, presented by Premier Boxing Champions, will feature a stacked undercard with top talent like Brandon Figueroa, Stephen Fulton, Isaac Cruz, Angel Fierro, Jesus Ramos, and Jeison Rosario.
