Baumgardner and Persoon to meet in North Carolina

Alycia Baumgardner will defend her WBC 130-pound title against Delfine Persoon on Sept. 27 at Trilith Studios Town Stage in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs) from Detroit will fight for the first time since last July, when she defeated Christina Linardatou in a rematch to retain her super featherweight championship.

Baumgardner has a fourth-round TKO win over Terri Harper and a split decision win over Mikaela Mayer. These pair of victories helped establish her as one of the best fighters working today.

Persoon (49-3, 19 KOs) is a former champion from Belgium. The 39-year-old’s last fight was in May 2023, with a decision win over Bo Mi Re Shin in Belgium.
In 2019 he lost by majority decision to Irish star Katie Taylor and two fights later by unanimous decision in the rematch.
