World Boxing Council bantamweight champion Mariana “Barby” Juárez, is cooped up in her training camp, due to the quarantine, brought about by the Covid-19 virus, and which has forced the postponement of the keenly anticipated fight against Jackie Nava, who originally agreed for the Saturday, May 9th, but this has now gone by the wayside.
“The fight had already been announced and this is happening. They told us that the date will be covered, so…waiting for this to happen. All that remains is to have patience and continue training at home to continue in combat rhythm,” said Mariana.
“It is a fight for the public to enjoy and hopefully… this year. What nobody would like is for it to be behind closed doors. It`s going to be a great fight, as we`re two boxers who`ve worked our utmost to reach the top; I know that I can come out of this with my hand raised high, and I am aware of what I can achieve. I`m going to keep the Diamond belt. I need at least six weeks to be ready, and I think we both want to arrive in the best possible condition. I`m sure that she`s also working hard!”
