At the plush facilities of Grupo Financiero Afirme in Mexico City, a stone`s throw from the copper dome of Monument of the Revolution, the official inauguration of the second edition of the exhibition “Green and Gold” displaying the pure essence of Boxing, is launched.
Mr. Jesús Ramírez Director General of Grupo Financiero Afirme, which is hosting it, welcomed everyone to this exhibition that will be presented for three months and will be open to the public, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and Weekends 10am to 3pm.
He stressed that for Grupo Financiero Afirme it is an absolute honor to have this exhibition. A commitment to the community and culture of sports because Boxing is a discipline at which Mexico excels. Afirme has already branched out into the spheres of literature, photography and cinema.
WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, explains that many of his idols are part of the historic expo. Two of Mexico`s great women boxers have been announced as Godmothers of “Green and Gold II” Expo. They are Ana María Torres and the current WBC female bantamweight champion, Mariana Juarez.
Mauricio said: “I`m very excited, this is the second time we are doing this great exhibition that for us is a tribute to the sport of fists, and especially to boxers, the stars who really write history with heroic acts. I want to thank Don Chucho for bringing “Green and Gold II” to here, I`m sure that this place will be full because boxing belongs to all Mexicans. I thank the commitment and passion with which Grupo Afirme is working and by opening their doors to us all, via a sport that has given so much satisfaction.
“This is the history of the Sport of Boxing through the objects which create the memories of everyone. So it`s a beautiful time. The Exhibition will be an opportunity for so many to see what history is all about. Our Great Champions ratify that this is a very special moment.”
Mónica Álvarez, who is responsible for this exhibition, thanked the WBC for its trust in her and her work team, since “Verde y Oro I” had the responsibility to tell the story of boxing and especially the essence of the champions.
She explained that this time, the exhibition is divided into four main pillars: legacy, community, sport feats and boxers.
She then invited everyone to take the tour and enjoy boxing from another perspective.
Mariana Juárez and Ana María Torres, who were in charge of inaugurating the expo, expressed their satisfaction of being part of this important show where the work of all who make up this great family, the WBC, is highlighted.
Former world champions Humberto González, Pipino Cuevas, Lupe Pintor, José Antonio Aguirre, Carlos Zárate, Rafael Herrera, Francisco Vargas, as well as WBC flyweight champion Ibeth Zamora, Silvia Torres, Lourdes Juarez and Fanny Martinez were present. As well as promoter Dino Duva, the President of COMBOX, Mr. Ciro Nucci, as well as the Referees Lupe García, Gelasio Pérez and Laurentino Ramírez.
