Austin´s “Health Care Hero” masterpiece is the focal point of Spence Jr Vs Garcia WBC Belt
Brilliant Denver artist Austin Zucchini-Fowler, has created a magnificent mural, honoring the work and the dedication of front line medical heroes and heroines combatting Covid 19, and the World Boxing Council is honoring his inspiration, by placing it at the very epicenter of the Special WBC Belt, which welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr and Danny Garcia will contest this Saturday at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
In a special online chat with WBC President, Austin explained that the inspiration came from the fact that his three brothers are doctors and their wives are nurses, in the veritable frontline of the ongoing battle against the Coronavirus Pandemic. And he wanted to create something of beauty and significance in the midst of the Quarantine, in order to honor them and all the medical experts and workers, who are risking their lives…to protect and save ours`. It depicts a gowned and masked medical expert with Angel`s wings, wearing boxing gloves.
Austin aged 31, used all of his fifteen years of experience as a trained artist, coupled with his two years of community art know how, to lovingly create this icon of art and courageous hope.
Mauricio says that the masterpiece has become the rallying call and the inspiration of the boxing world and millions more globally. How apt and with perfect timing, because before the championship bout starts the WBC will honor Heroes of Humanity, and award for people from all walk of life, who`ve stepped up and selflessly helped others during the crisis, as an inspiration for all of us. An Angel on our shoulder in tough times!
The Health Care Hero mural is located on the wall of Austin`s landlords at Williams Street and East Colfax Avenue, in downtown Denver. With his permission, the WBC entrusted artisans and craftsmen to place an image of the design on the belt, making it a unique and priceless masterpiece. The winner of this classic bout between champion Spence and challenger Garcia, will hold it aloft and at the self same time, an exact replica will be winging its way to Austin.
Austin praised the meticulous attention to detail of the transformation to the WBC Belt, which he describes as so beautiful in all of its glory.
Mauricio summed it up by saying: “From your mind, to a wall and then to a world championship belt, which is drawing the attention of millions of people. The belt will be the champion`s prize and yours`. Please keep doing what you`re doing and inspire us. This is a wonderful representation of the fight of humanity.”
