A day like today, Pernell Whitaker defended his WBC title

August 26th, 1995.- Pernell “Sweet pea” Whitaker defended his World Boxing Council welterweight crown by defeating Gary Jacobs via UD. The match took place at the Convention Hall in Atlantic City.

During his brilliant career, Whitaker conquered the light, superlight, welter and super welterweight divisions.
