Southpaw boxing genius Pernell Whitaker, conquered his third world title, the WBC welterweight crown, defeating James “Buddy” McGirt, by unanimous decision, at Madison Square Garden in New York. The Referee was Larry Hazzard. The Judges were Rudy Ortega, Dalby Shirley and Chuck Giampa.
