Tyson Fury, remained undefeated but suffered two severe cuts, winning the Mayan Belt II of the World Boxing Council, defeating durable basher, Swede Otto Wallin by UD, at the T-Mobile Arena of The Vegas, Nevada.
Flaymboyant, gaudy and Independent minded Fury went up to the ring clad in Mexican kit with a folk dance group and a Mexican singer, belting it out, to celebrate the Mexican National Hols.
Wallin was a more than worthy opponent who came determined to give Fury a run for his money, and earned a deserved slice of it. In the third round cagy southpaw Otto caused a blotto right eye injury, landing a shreddingly powerful left hand which opened Fury’s eyebrow and eyelid.
Fury fought Cyclops style masked in blood, punctuated by the ring doctor`s close examination twice of the gaping gashes. He used his extended reach and boxing savvy to keep Wallin at arm`s reach round after round. Fury had his best moments in the tenth round, but Wallin again shook Fury in the final round. The final scores were 116-112, 117-111 and 118-110. A plastic surgeon has now micro patched up the cuts and a rematch against WBC Champion Deontay Wilder looks likely to be pushed back some time.
