Emotional management is understood as the process of being aware of the emotions we feel, accepting them and controlling them if necessary, adapting to the context in which we find ourselves, be it sports, work or personal life. This process can be quite a challenge, but fortunately, it can be improved through learning.
Here I present you 3 strategies to work on our emotional management:
Diary of emotions: A record is an excellent tool for you to know your own emotions and to know the effect that they have on your behavior. You only need a notebook and a pen to start writing about what you want to improve, your life, your ideas, etc. Once you have taken notes for several days in a row, review what you have been writing and pay attention to the patterns and generalities that you find in your experiences.
Focus on positive thoughts and put negative ones aside: Focus on positive emotions and give negative ones the value they have, but don’t dwell on them. Now is the time to repeat to yourself how much you love yourself.
Release tension through sports: Practicing sports is one of the healthiest alternatives, not only physically, but also psychologically. Physical exercise helps you to reduce stress, increase your self-esteem and create a healthy habit aimed at perseverance and a healthy life.
In boxing it is important to have tools for proper emotional management, for example writing our daily, weekly, or monthly goals in a diary.
Weekly goal: Practice technique 4 times a week to perfect straight punches from uncomfortable positions.
This allows the athlete to have an order in his thoughts and above all, a daily structure in routine.
