2021 the Year of Boxing: Marquéz defeated Vazquez

On March 3, 2007, Mexican Rafael Márquez snatched the World Boxing Council super bantamweight belt from his compatriot Israel Vázquez by defeating him by TKO in the seventh round, in a fight held in Carson, California.

Márquez got his 37th win with only 3 losses, while Vázquez failed to make the third defense of the title he had won in December 2005, when he knocked out compatriot Oscar ‘Chololo’ Larios in Las Vegas Nevada.

The bout was tremendously  intense from the start and looked pretty even, with Marquez slightly up on the scorecards, until at the close of the seventh round, Vazquez was unable to continue after a nose injury.

After this combat, both warriors had another three confrontations, with two victories each.
