Coordinated by promoter Monroy Gonz\u00e1lez and supported by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the National System of Amateur Boxing Schools (SNEBA), the event marked the first edition of a global amateur championship of its kind in the re<\/em><\/em><\/em>gion.<br>The opening ceremony featured true legends of the sport: the iconic Julio C\u00e9sar Ch\u00e1vez led the inauguration, while former world champion Jackie Nava graced the closing ceremony and presented awards to the winners.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wbcboxing.com\/amateur\/esp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG-20251026-WA0008-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1433\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Participants: 350 Boxers from Over 10 Countries<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>he championship brought together 350 athletes from countries across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Among the most notable delegations were Mexico (host), Argentina, Bolivia, Cuba, the United States, Venezuela, Paraguay, Switzerland, Chile, Costa Rica, and Panama, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Competition was divided into three age and weight divisions: Infant (13\u201314 years), Youth (15\u201317 years), and Elite (18\u201332 years).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tournament logistics received strong support from both municipal and federal authorities. Mayor Ismael Burgue\u00f1o ensured facilities, accommodation, and meals for the athletes in coordination with IMDET and CONADE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The large-scale participation made this WBC World Championship an unprecedented event in the region, surpassing all initial expectations. Another standout was Tijuana native Nicole \u00c1ngeles, who defeated Argentina\u2019s Daisy G\u00f3mez by split decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the men\u2019s division, local talent shone brightly: Tijuana boxers V\u00edctor Fernando \u201cEl Cachorro\u201d Valderrama and \u00c1ngel \u201cGallito\u201d Hilario both claimed world titles, alongside fellow locals Abi Garc\u00eda and Oscar Castro.
