Córdoba opened the federal calendar of WBC Amateur in Argentina

Córdoba hosted a series of competitions promoted by WBC Amateur in Argentina. The event marked the starting point in that province of a national calendar that seeks to federalize the sport and project young boxers onto the international stage.

The organization was led by Lukas Rosales, César Coronel, and Carlos Tello, who carried out the first stop of this circuit in the central province. Throughout the year, the calendar will add new stages across the country. The goal is to expand the territorial reach of amateur boxing and provide more competitive development opportunities for local athletes.

This tournament adds to a national schedule that had already begun with the Liga Metropolitana, which opened the season with an elimination tournament in Buenos Aires City. From that competition, a select team will be formed to represent Argentina at the end of the year in the international “Green and Gold Challenge”, to be held in Tijuana, Mexico.

At the same time, the amateur boxing calendar is also being strengthened by the regional women’s tournament organized by the Argentine Boxing Federation (FAB) at its stadium in Buenos Aires, aimed at promoting the development and visibility of female boxers throughout the country.

A special moment of the day in Córdoba was the presentation of medals dedicated to the memory of Alejandra “Locomotora” Oliveras, the legendary world champion who passed away only a few weeks ago. The tribute was received with deep emotion by the boxing community, which honored both her sporting achievements and her human legacy.
