More than 4,000 runners have already signed up for the annual Jose Sulaiman six and twelve Kms race along leafy and spacious Reforma Avenue, in the heart of Mexico City  on January 21st,  and organizers are advising those training for it, to limber up properly.

Before going out to run,  it is essential and prudent to follow a good warm up routine to achieve the proposed objectives without suffering damage to our body and to prevent future injuries.

Benefits of warming up...

• - Produces calories by increasing muscle metabolism
• - The body is prepared for better coordination
• - Improvement of muscle elasticity, thus reducing injuries
• - Mental concentration

How to warm-up?

• Stretching of muscles, quadriceps and gluts
• Gentle stretching of  shoulders, back and neck
• Light trot, raising knees up with heels back
• Lateral race, cross-crossed race, trunk rotation
• Abdominals, lumbar exercises and push-ups
• Progressive races on a straight or ramp, short sprints

The duration of warming up exercises may vary. For example, for gentle training it is recommended to warm up for  between 5 and 10 minutes, while a more intense session is better served for  a warm up which lasts between 15 and 20 minutes.

We will be  waiting for you on  January 21!
