KEEPING TRACK: BERCHELT VS MIJARES
The World Boxing Council super featherweight, Miguel Berchelt, will face former world champion Cristian Mijares, on February 10 at the Plaza de Toros in Cancun, Quintana Roo.
The match is presented by Mario Abraham Xacur's "Max Boxing," Fernando Beltran's "Zanfer Promotions," Pepe Gomez' "Cancun Boxing" and Guillermo Rocha's "Boxing Time Promotions."
2017 was a dream year for "Alacran" Berchelt. Even though he only fought a couple of times, he managed to win the WBC super featherweight crown defeating Francisco "Bandido" Vargas and later to successfully defend his title against rugged Japanese southpaw and former champion Takashi Miura.
Berchelt (31-1-0, 28 KO's) now wants to show that he has developed and improved, in order to command a prolonged reign. Three-time world champion, Cristian Mijares (58-8-2, 26 KO's), is on a winning streak of nine victories ambitious to be crowned again.
As part of the WBC safety requirementes, both fighters have successfully presented their respective 30-day pre-weighings, as well as their magnetic resonance tests.
Some medical exams still have to be done, but knowing the professionalism of these warriors and their respective teams, we are sure that they will present them as soon as possible.
