NEWLY crowned WBC Youth lightweight champion Jose “Machine Gun” Maxian has arrived in Manila, Philippines with a hero’s welcome-like atmosphere.

A throng of Filipino boxing fans greeted Maxian at his arrival in Manila’ Ninoy Aquino International Airport on March 17, two days after he dethroned WBC No. 40 Tsukasa Saito with a convincing knockout win in the seventh round at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

WBC Youth championship chairman Rex Walker supervised the title fight.

The 21 year old pride of the small town Dumarao, Capiz in central Philippines brought with him the beautiful gold and green title belt.

Trainer Archer Villamor and fellow boxer Raymond Sermona joined Maxian in his successful Japan debut.
