At a crowded press conference in the CONADE Auditorium, its director  Alfredo Castillo revealed the great response that "CONADE Boxing Academy" has had, detecting  talent,  not only in promising athletes but also coaches, with the possibility of developing  a star within a stellar high performance system.

He explained and exclaimed: "Mexico is a rich country in all aspects, but especially in sport and even more so with boxing, which has earned the most  medals for  our country, I thank the World Boxing Council and its President, Mr Mauricio Sulaiman. He's  joined this initiative, which aims to rescue  amateur boxing."

Mr Castillo especially thanked the team of Cuban coaches, plus  the ambassadors,  and the Supervisor of the Academy, former multiple boxing champion Erik Morales as well as  the coordinator of international amateur boxing WBC matters, Juan Carlos Pelayo. They've  combined their enthusiasm, skills and hard won experience, channelling that blend into  this great expectations project,  which promises fabulous results in  the future.

Mauricio Sulaiman   stated that every child and teenager  dreams of representing his or her country, winning medals and becoming a hero/heroine of this great and mighty  nation.

"For boxing, it is important to encourage the path through the amateur field,  because it is the base and foundation for every boxer.  However, in recent years, the monopoly of AIBA has prevented  this chance,  to which every athlete has the right."

Convinced that sport is a potential game/life changer, Mauricio, recognized that many young people leave this route  due to the lack of opportunities. However,  the "CONADE Boxing Academy" is a wonderful  hope and a dream come true, from which new legends will shiningly emerge.

Former world champion Erik Morales  praised this great initiative, as it was imperative that someone stepped up to help amateur boxing, recognizing that hundreds of young talents are in the shadows, often training with the bare minimum, only sustained with  the hope of one day succeeding.  He is thankful and enthusiastic about this  innovative project,  as children and young people will have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams, knowing that they will have full support through a comprehensive plan that will educate, motivate them, help with nutrición and so much more.

Erik invited all young people between 12 and 17 who wish to become high-performance athletes,  to participate in the selection  process that will take place in Mexico City this coming November 14 at the Velodrome facilities starting at 9 am.
