The "Quinta del Bosque" internment center in San Miguel Zinacantepec, State of Mexico, opened its doors to the boxing family, headed by Mauricio Sulaimán, President  of the WBC and his wife Cristhiane Manzur, director of WBC Cares Mexico for the inauguration of the boxing gym for 106 young people who have already signed up for this sports program.

This happens as part of the Youth Without Prison initiative, implemented by the civil association “Reinserta” ,along with USAID, with the main goal of preventing crime among young people in conflict with the law.

Mercedes Castañeda, director of the Reinserta program, took the microphone to explain that this initiative is born of studies based on specific evidence that demonstrate that young people who have committed a crime can return to society in a favorable way by rebuilding their relationship on a personal and collective level, through a comprehensive program.

She said she's proud for the unconditional support of the World Boxing Council since the first steps of this initiative, stressing that sport is the basis of a healthy emotional development.

With a population of 124 men between 16 and 22 years old and 14 women between 15 and 20 years old, the center has become the home of these young people who, when they arrive here, have found a different perspective.

The leader of the  WBC was emphatic in saying that for the boxing family this is a very special day, because not only is the dream of opening a new gym realized, but also to offer a second chance to young people who are determined to start a new life.

He emphasized that this initiative also has the support of "Scholas Ocurrentes" Program led by Pope Francisco that aims to produce a paradigmatic change in education through the integration of communities to create an integrated and peaceful society.

He emphasized that boxing is a sport that not only promotes physical health but also discipline, respect, constancy and emotional management, so he is  confident that these benefits will reach young people at Quinta del Bosque.

Former world champion Ibeth Zamora, Judith Rodriguez, former champions Pipino Cuevas, Rafael Limón, Isaac Bustos, as well as Dante Jardón, Osvaldo Razón and WBC youth champion Eduardo Hernandez, attended the event.
