Andre Ward joins the list of world champions who've announced their retirement from boxing this year, frankly explaining "My body can no longer withstand the rigors of this sport...If I can't give my family, my team and fans everything I have, I cannot fight anymore."

Multi talented 33-year-old Ward is undefeated as a professional, with a record of 32 wins, 16 by knockout. His decision comes after twice defeating the rugged hard hitting Russian Sergey Kovalev.

Ward was World Boxing Council super middleweight champion, defeating Britain's Carl Froch in the Super Six tournament, where he faced and overcame the world's best super middleweights

The World Boxing Council wishes Andre great success in his future plans.
