World Boxing Council bantamweight champion, Shinsuke Yamanaka (27-0-2, 19 ko's) fights Mexican Luis "Pantera" Nery (23-0-0, 17 ko's), on August 15 at Shimazu Arena, Kyoto, Japan.

Yamanaka became world champion in his professional fight number 17, in November 2011, by knocking out Christian Esquivel, and since then he has made twelve defenses of his crown. Among the fighters he has defeated: Vic Darchinyan, Tomas Rojas, Alberto Guevara, Anselmo Moreno twice, Liborio Solis and in his most recent match, he knocked out Carlos Carlson.

Nery has been a WBC Continental Americas and Silver champion. He has defeated rivals Carlos Fontes, Jether Oliva, John Mark Apolinaro, Martín Casillas, David "Tornado" Sánchez (RIP), Richie Mepranum, Raymond Tabugon and Jesús Martínez.

Both fighters presented their 30 and 7 days pre-weighings without any problem. Yamanaka presented his MRI and other exams required by the WBC, however Nery has yet to sent them.
