TO THE FORE IN FOUR- SHIELDS WINS NABF BELT
Most of ShoBox events are designed and intended to provide a spotlight push or nudge to fledgling ring careers, but former double Olympian Claressa Shields, won the North American female middleweight crown, outright in only her second professional bout.
Shields overwhelmed brave Szilvia Szabados, with the Referee intervening to save her opponent in the fourth round.
"It was about respect, I wanted to go there and show all people that I had power and I am not afraid," declared Shields.
The victory won Shields the vacant NABF middleweight title, a significant achievement for a boxer, who's only swopped punches twice in the paid ranks.
The MGM Grand Casino in Detroit was jam packed. Shields entered the arena, singing along with the incoming introduction music and singing throughout the fight. A new star of note, is climbing the scales on the way to more curtain calls.
