Glitch in negotiations between Cotto and Maravilla
Sampson Lewkowicz, who's Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez's advisor and mentor, confirms the negotiations for the WBC middleweight fight between Miguel Angel Cotto and Champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez have turned difficult.... but he hopes they can continue, and pick up pace in coming days.
Cotto and Martínez could face each other on June 7th, with Madison Square Garden as the venue.
Ever persistent, onward and upward, Sampson who wants the talks to gel and not jam, says he really hopes this fight doesn't tag itself on to the large list of classics that disintigrated into verbose ashes before their inception. As he laconically wrote on his Twitter account: “I hope the fight between “Maravilla” vs Miguel Cotto doesn’t join the black list in history of fights that never took place."
In reaching this negotiations crossroads, which will hopefully progress via a green light, all sides might consider baseball great Yogi Berra, who batted left handed, pitched right handed and caught divinely. Yogi, who's still with us at a spritely eighty eight, has capped many common sense sayings which are naturally known as Yogi-isms. None more famous than: "If you come to a fork in the road, pick it up!".
