The WBC announced that he supports the request of freedom for the former Japanese boxer Iwao Hakamada who was condemned to death sentence since 1968.

The motion was approved by the WBC Board of Governors after watching a video of former American boxer Robin “Huracan” Carter, who was imprisioned for 20 years by a crime he didn’t do.

"The WBC joins the cause of freedom of Hakamada" said executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman to report that the same judge who sentenced Hakamada in 1968 has recognized he was pressured to convict the former boxer.

Hakamada who was born in 1936, was convicted in the murder of his boss and the latter's family and was sentenced to death in 1968.
