Mikey Garcia wants to create a memory lane in Los Angeles

World Boxing Council lightweight champion Mikey García  offered a thoughtful, open media workout this Morning at the Fortune Gym in Los Angeles, as he prepares for his unification match against International Boxing Federation champion Robert Easter Jr.
It's on Saturday July 28th live SHOWTIME at the  STAPLES Center in Los Angeles in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.
The triple SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® card (10 pm ET / 7 pm PT) will also include Cuban "The Real King Kong" Ortiz returning to action to face former title challenger Razvan Cojanu in a 10 round bout.
Tickets for the live event, promoted by Ringstar Sports and TGB Promotions, have a cost of  $ 50, plus applicable fees, and are on sale at AXS.com.
This is what Garcia, his brother and trainer Robert Garcia and the president and CEO of Ringstar Sports, Richard Schaefer, commented:
"It's been seven years since I last had the opportunity to fight here in Los Angeles, and that was even before I became a champion. Now, after all my achievements, I get to fight  home, having an unification match in front of my local fans.
"I think I'm at my best now, I'm in the best physical and mental form I've been in. I need to take advantage of the moment right now and take the biggest challenges. I want to give you fights  to remember. That´s what excites me the most
"I know that Easter is very tall and has a longer range than I. In the gym, we have been working with different colleagues that present me different challenges and make adjustments from there.
"I have a lot of experience fighting taller boxers in the past, so I do not think it's going to make a big difference, it's a disadvantage on paper, but once the fight comes, I'll be ready.
"This is a great fight for me and I'm sure it's the biggest fight of Easter's career so far. I'm glad he's training extra hard. That shows me he's motivated and hungry to present the best version of himself, just like I will."
"We know that Robert Easter is training like never before to be ready for this fight against Mikey. He has a significant reach advantage, so we know he's going to come in and use that. He has a new coach [Kevin Cunningham. He will try to make us box with him.
"Mikey fighting at home in front of his fans is huge for us. We know there is extra pressure that comes with that, but everything we've done together so far in his career has prepared him for that.
"We have to use our experience advantage. Mikey has fought against the best. Easter is a young guy who wants to take Mikey's place, Mikey is very smart, so he's going to look for the right hit to hurt."
RICHARD SCHAEFER, President and CEO of Ringstar Sports
"Mikey Garcia has the opportunity to dominate at 135 and 140 pounds. He even wants to gain weight and challenge himself against the best at 147. It shows the character and strength of Mikey Garcia. No challenge is too big for him!
Mikey in STAPLES Center is a perfect combination. STAPLES Center tends to bring out the best in the fighters and that will surely happen again on July 28. "
