This Saturday, interim super lightweight champion of the World Boxing Council,  Regis Prograis, will defend his crown against the Argentine José Juan Velasco, at the Lakefron Arena in New Orleans.

"I'm excited and honored to be fighting at home in New Orleans," said Prograis, who became interim champion by knocking out former champion Julius Indongo last March.

"Over the past few years, people have always asked me when I was fighting at home, and today I am more than proud that we can make the fight happen and better yet, as the WBC world champion. The people of New Orleans have supported me from the first day, and I love being able to fight at home."

Prograis (21-0, 18 Ko's) lived in New Orleans until 2005, but after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city he had to move to Houston, where he started with the most intense part of his training and began his professional career.

Velasco (20-0, 12 Ko's) is originally from Argentina and will come to the fight with four knockouts in his last five fight as a professional.
