Former WBC interim female Featherweight Champion Maureen Shea (26-1, 12 KO`s) is taking a sabbatical from Boxing to dig the rhythm, learning  some new moves,  and sidesteps to help raise 10,000 dollars for  children in challenging living conditions.

She explains: "I`m taking a few months away from my boxing career to focus and participate in a charity event called Dancing with the Community Stars at the Oxnard Salsa Festival. I will be dancing, competition style,  on July 29th at 1pm at Plaza Park in Oxnard, CA.  I have set a goal to raise $10,000. An amount which will help give back to children and their families in transitional living situations.

"I will be raising money for The City Center Ventura County, a wonderful charity that provides families the resources they so need, to get back to a place of independence. Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. But sometimes, all you need is a helping hand or a bit of encouragement,  to take a few more steps forward and continue the good fight.

"I`ll be training with the same total dedication I put into boxing, but this time for Salsa. Any donation, small or big, will make a significant difference in the lives of children and their families."
