World Boxing Council super featherweight champion Miguel "Alacran" Berchelt is in tip top shape ready to defend his Green and Gold belt for the third time, in what he calls his second home- beautiful Merida, Yucatan where he developed a significant and crucial portion of his professional career

"Alacrán" will clash with very capable Argentinian Victor Jonathan Barros at  the Poliforum Zamna of Mérida on June 23rd.

"I and going  through the best moment of my career, enjoying having crystallized one of my greatest desires, being a world champion. Today after many years i've come a long way back to the city that welcomed me when I was a young man full of dreams and ambitions.

"I am  very excited and especially eager to be in front of all my people, showing them that everything is possible as long as you work with discipline, effort and respect. The people of Mérida are humble, honest, hardworking and with a historic boxing tradition.

“I feel strong and willing to offer a great card. Yet I know that my rival is dangerous. I think you should never be over confident, and although I respect Barros, the WBC belt is mine and here with me it will stay. I guarantee it!"

Miguel pledged that he will go on to defend his crown against Mickey Román, the mandatory challenger, who in his words has earned that opportunity.
