Former cruiserweight and heavyweight  champion, British David "Hayemaker" has announced his retirement.

David,  who was also a World Boxing Council cruiserweight champion, has announced his retirement from the ring on Tuesday, June 12, following his May 15, repeat defeat by Tony Bellew.

David closes his brilliant career as a professional with a balance of 28 victories, incorporating 26 KO's  and just four defeats in the 32 bouts since 2002.  He and Evander Holyfield are the only unified cruiserweight champions, who climbed higher and went on to win heavyweight titles.

"Today I announce my withdrawal from professional boxing. As I write this statement and reflect on my stage in this sport, I can not find a better way to describe this trip, "said the Briton in a press release.

"This is not the end of my story, it's just the beginning of something new."

The World Boxing Council wishes David great success in his future plans and endeavours.
