On Saturday June 23rd, Miguel "Alacran" Berchelt will realize  another of his long-awaited dreams in boxing, by defending his world championship, in the beautiful and loyal city of Merida.

"Alacrán" (33-1-0, 29 ko's) will be defending his World Boxing Council super featherweight belt for the third occasion, this time versus Argentine Victor Jonathan Barros (41-5-1, 22 knockouts) in the Poliforum Zamna from Merida, Yucatan. The event is presented by Fernando Beltrán's Zanfer and Mario Abraham's Max Boxing, and it'll be broadcast through  Azteca 7 for Mexico and ESPN in the United States.

In February Miguel successfully defended his crown against Maxwell Akuku in Cancun, where he was born.  Now, it's on to Merida, which also holds a very special place in his heart.

"I feel blessed, that after so many years of dedication, discipline, effort and respect for  boxing, come the dividents,” stated "Alacrán" from his training camp in  Hermosillo, Sonora,  guided by  Coach Alfredo Caballero.

"I'm about to fulfill another dream.  Mérida is precisely where my career took off. This  is where Mario Abraham believed in me, gave me his support and led my career. The people of Merida, are humble, honest, hard-working, with a rich historic boxing tradition. Their dedication and their pride makes me fight all the harder, and I'll give you all a great night in Polifóum Zamna!”
