WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. will face the unbeaten number one challenger Joseph "JoJo" Diaz Jr. next May 19th, but no need to blow the cobwebs away.

Gary has spent some time out of the string; nevertheless, he assures that a rest is as good as a break!

Gary conquered the belt defeating the Mexican idol, Jhonny Gonzalez, by technical knockout in the fourth round. Then he  defended his crow, defeating  the Irishman Patrick Hyland and on  to featherweight interim champion, the Colombian Óscar Escandón, taking a resounding victory in the seventh round.

Gary  opened up his training camp demonstrating that he is in excellent shape to face the tough "Jojo" Diaz.

He has had problems with his hands in the past; stressing: “I am able to preserve my body and stay fit and focused. I am a boxer who is always in shape and I assure you that you will see the best version of me, against Diaz."
