Spanish fighters Miguel Velázquez, Alfredo Evangelista, Poli Díaz and Pepe Legrá, received the full support of the World Boxing Council, thanks to the visionary and inspirational José Sulaimán Fund.

In practical terms that act and that fact was spearheaded by WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, who was present at the event held at the Hotel Dome in Madrid.

"The only reason for the existence of the World Council is the boxer. Our  position is clear. We are with them before, during and after the glory years. It  is difficult for athletes to 'turn off the light' and fight against the problems they still have after their careers.  That's why the José Sulaimán fund was created, because it was my Father's cherished dream to help and support our eternal heroes. This fund is our greatest pride.. With it, we  try to give back part of what they gloriously gave to Boxing and society."

Of these  four honorees, Miguel Velázquez and Pepe Legrá  are two of the thirteen world champions from Spain, both are the pride of the  WBC. On the other hand, Evangelista fought against Ali (1977) and Holmes (1978) and Poli Díaz took on  Whitaker (1991).  Undoubtedly, they are four of the most beloved fighters in Spain.
