The third man in the ring was Mexican Jose Medina Solares. While the Judges were Tony Perez, Takeaki Kanaya and Hubert Minn.

Their bout was presented at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Referee was Teddy Martin. The proud Scot, bitterly disappointed following the defeat, announced his retirement.
